With a very limited budget, the scope of this job was to design a tablet app from scratch for the NFSS that would replace their current app, which was used by surveyors to log the fire safety standards of buildings around the UK.
The existing app had issues with the user journeys and required an internet connection, so many of the surveyors had resorted back to pad and pen, which was making the process less efficient.
The new app had to simplify the form process considerably, allow surveyors access to all of their previous clients and allow them to add new clients.
The first task was to get a good understanding of the complexity of the forms as well as the varied needs of the user, the various tasks they needed to complete and their much varied understanding of tech.
Starting with a mobile first approach, I planned the app structure making sure each requirement was fulfilled.
All I had to work with in regards to style guide was a very old logo and no direction. So with this, I developed a colour scheme for the app along with rules around their use in order to develop the styling whilst keeping accessibility front of mind.
